
Alabama Track and Field Adds 12 to 2017-18 Recruiting Class

Incoming class brings talent and depth to all areas of the program
Alabama track and field head coach Dan Waters announced the signing of 12 additional student-athletes athletes to the Crimson Tide men's and women's 2017-18 recruiting classes.
The spring signees brings the combined 2017-18 class to 32 (17 men/15 women). Alabama signed 20Â student-athletes during the November 2016 signing period.
"I'm extremely excited about this year's signing class," head coach Dan Waters said. "This group provides depth in all disciplines and meets our goal of continuing to build the strongest all-around track & field program in the country."
Men's spring signees include Hayden Blalock (Distance/Charlotte, N.C.), Nathan Gamble (Distance/Raleigh, N.C.), Gilbert Kigen (Distance/Kipkaby, Kenya), Vincent Kiprop (Distance/Kericho, Kenya), Shelby McEwen (Jumps/Abbeville, Miss.), Andrew Powell (Distance/Brentwood, Tenn.), Jackson Reed (Distance/Summersville, WVa.), Henry Ruggs, III (Sprints/Montgomery, Ala.) and Jake Spotswood (Multi-events & Pole Vault/Mobile, Ala.).
They join fall signees Champion Allison (Sprints/Richmond, Texas), Santiago Basso (Throws/Roselle, Ill.), Alfred Chelanga (Nairobi, Kenya/Shorter University), Christian Edwards (Jumps/Lake Charles, La.), George Evans (Throws/Iverness, Scotland), Ryan Lipe (Pole Vault/Carmel, Ind.), Ruebin Walters (Hurdles/Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago) and Okeen Williams (Hurdles/St. Elizabeth, Jamaica).
The men's signing class includes four sprinters/hurdlers, seven distance runners, two jumpers, two throwers, one pole vaulter and one pole vault/multi-event specialist.
Women's spring signees include Maddie Dearborn (Distance/Yorkville, Ill.), Margot Dooley (Sprints/Evanston, Ill.) and Krystal Sparling (Sprints/Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
