Alabama Men’s Golf Takes Top Spot in Golfstat.com Rankings

Davis Riley named AmateurGolf.com’s Amateur of the Month for September
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama is the top-ranked men's golf team in the nation, according to the most recent Golfstat.com top-25 rankings. In three tournaments this fall, the Crimson Tide holds a 37-1-1 record and has two first-place finishes with its only loss coming to No. 2 Texas A&M.
In addition, Alabama has faced 13 of the other top-25 squads in its three tournaments and holds a 15-1-1 record against such teams. The team is 27-under par for the season and averages a score of 279.7 per round.
Along with the team's national recognition, junior Davis Riley was named AmateurGolf.com's Amateur of the Month for his performance in September. The Hattiesburg, Miss., native holds the No. 2 spot in Golfweek's Collegiate Individual rankings and is currently ranked No. 34 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Amateur. The Crimson Tide is ranked No. 3 in the nation as a team by Golfweek.
Alabama golfers have turned in an average individual score per round of 70.84, led by Riley's average of 68.11, which tops the SEC. Riley is 23 strokes under par this season and earned his first career medalist honors at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Sept. 17 where he carded a career-low-tying round of 66. He finished tied for third at the Carpet Capital Collegiate to open the season and was the Tide's top finisher. In his last outing, he collected his third top-10 finish this year with a sixth-place result at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate.
