What made you choose to come to Alabama?
"I was interested in going to a large school away from home. The high school I went to was very small and I was ready for a change. After I had my campus tour, I knew that UA was the school for me."
What were your thoughts the first time you competed for the Tide?
"My first race was in Chattanooga and I was so incredibly nervous. I really don't remember anything that happened the entire time. I just remember the horn when we crossed the line and that overwhelming sense of pride having done the best I could to represent my school well."
Where is your favorite place to compete?
"Chattanooga was the first race my little sister got to see me compete, so I guess it will always be my favorite regatta."
What is your favorite team memory?
"My favorite team memory is from my walk-on season. It was the first snow day that I had at UA. After practice, a bunch of us got together and watched movies and bonded for the whole rest of the day. That was the first time I realized these girls weren't just going to be my teammates, but that they were going to be my best friends too."
What is your funniest team memory?
"During winter training, we had a skit night. A group of the girls dressed up and impersonated the coaches. They had us all, including the coaches, rolling on the floor laughing."
Who inspires you daily?
"My dad is one of my biggest inspirations. He's the kind of guy that has a motivational quote to go with any situation. He is always making sure I don't take on too much or take myself too seriously."
What advice would you give to your freshman self if you had the chance?
"Most importantly, take more naps! By that, I mean to generally take care of yourself. Make sure that you prioritize your mental and physical health in your own life. Set aside time for yourself, even if it's just a few minutes to breathe some fresh air on a walk every once in a while. Do something every day for just you."
What are your plans after graduation?
"Currently, I am waiting on decisions from the graduate schools I have applied to. In an ideal world, next year I will be in some professional school working and coaching."
